Orion Empire Signs Historic Peace Treaty with Terran Alliance

VEGA PRIME – After 47 years of cold war, proxy conflicts, and the occasional regrettable incident involving antimatter mines, the Orion Empire and the Terran Alliance have inked the Vega Accord – a comprehensive peace treaty hailed as "the end of an era, or the beginning of a bigger one."

The signing ceremony took place under the violet skies of Vega Prime's Crystal Dome. Emperor Kael’Vorr of Orion (in full ceremonial exosuit) and President Mira Sol of Terra clasped gauntleted hands while holographic doves (programmed not to glitch this time) circled overhead. Champagne was swapped for synth-nebula fizz to respect dietary observances on both sides.

Key provisions include: demilitarization of the Orion Spur border zones, joint mining rights in the Tyche Belt, and a mutual non-aggression pact backed by quantum-entangled monitoring satellites. Trade tariffs on iridium-7 and pleasure-droids drop to zero within 90 cycles.

But not everyone is celebrating. Hardliners in the Terran Senate call it "appeasement wrapped in starlight." Orion separatist groups have already claimed the treaty is a cover for a full-scale cultural assimilation program. And anonymous leaks suggest a shadow clause: shared access to forbidden precursor tech buried under Vega's northern polar cap.

"Peace is fragile," Emperor Kael’Vorr stated in his address. "But war is expensive. Let the stars judge us by our next moves."

Starlight Sentinel will be watching those moves very closely.
